Should you be able to take home food from a Private Party?

Picture this - a large goose reunion at a restaurant.  You're in a private room with a private buffet (the general public can't come and eat off of your private buffet).  You paid $25 per goose family member.  After most of the extended goose family members leave, the rest of the goose family packs the food to go.  One goose requests a few to-go containers.  The response from the restaurant is "We don't allow people to take the food 'to-go'".   Many horrified goose-looks later, we ask where the food will go and we're assured it "won't go to waste"

A few other facts:

  1. There was very little food left (maybe enough for 3-4 full plates, but it's not like there was enough to feed 20 folks)
  2. Some geese didn't think the food was very good (though some thought it was ok and definitely worth eating for lunch the next day)

We geese think that if it's a private buffet, we should have been allowed to take the food home.  What do you think?
