Incorrect Lyrics – should you correct them?

Here’s the story…SallyGoose and OpalGoose have been debating for years about the correct lyrics to “Lost in You” by Matt Bianco.  Over the years, Matt Bianco has remixed this song several times and we keep thinking we know what they’re saying.

Sally was sure that the lyrics were:

As the beat goes on
You’ve got a hold on me
You know there’s nothing
I can do, I try but
I can’t stop the circle
I’m lost in you

Opal wasn’t sure what the correct lyrics were but insisted that “I can’t stop the circle” made no sense!   Now that Hi Fi Bossanova has come out, we took a group listen and determined that these must be the correct lyrics:

As the beat goes on
You’ve got a hold on me
You know there’s nothing
I can do, I try but
I can’t stop myself
I’m lost in you

Sally is now quite embarrassed since she has belted out the line “I can’t stop the circle” at night clubs, goose parties etc.

So, if you heard your friend singing the wrong lyric to a song, would you correct him/her?  Or would you allow him or her to continue, figuring they’re having a good time and don’t need correction?
