We know...you think you know every local road.  Well, if there is traffic, or an accident, you may need to leave your normal routes and go a different way.  We really wouldn't have survived without our State Atlas!  Even if you have a GPS, we recommend carrying your recent State Atlas as backup or to review the route that the GPS recommends.  Believe it or not, GPS can malfunction or recommend stupid routes.  You're smarter than it is.  A GPS is a great assistant and we do recommend having one, but if you have to abandon the car or whatever, you will need to be able to function and your atlas could be key!
