French Socks

French Socks

Posted in [Our Knitting Projects] By MitzyGoose

We found this yarn at a small French knitting shop. Honestly, we wouldn't have even gotten the yarn but we had inadvertently made the woman angry by asking for a product she didn't have. We saw a poster with a sock yarn sweater...turns out, there were no instructions available for the sweater, it was just a promo poster! Then, we wanted the CD version of the Bergere de France catalog instructions. She finally dug up the paper copy and got angry when we said we already owned the paper copy! She couldn't understand that we might actually prefer the CD copy (who wants that?).

So, we made the obligatory purchase. It started with TWO balls of sock yarn, one for each sock. But in France, apparently, they make socks with cuffs up to just below the knee. We geese don't wear them that high! She couldn't understand that anyone would want socks that were not long and insisted that we'd be unhappy with only two balls of sock yarn - so we were outfitted with the ""optimal"" 3 balls.

Sometimes, it's just not worth arguing over $20. Turns out, we got two pairs of socks out of three balls so none of it went to waste.
